Sponsored Ads

What is a Sponsored Ad?
A Sponsored Ad is a fixed price ad shown on a specific site over a period of time.

How many clicks will my ad get?
The only estimates available to you are the stats we provide based on the performance of previous ads on the site. The site Rate Cards include this and other valuable information to help you make a decision. Remember that every ad is different and will therefore invoke different human responses.

How long can I book an ad for?
We provide you the ability to book an ad for up to 12 weeks or if you just want to "test the waters" you can also book an ad for one day.

Are there discounts for booking ads longer than a week?
Pricing on Sponsored Ads is set by the Publisher and they can elect to offer discounts for long term bookings. Discounts of us to 15% can be made on long term bookings.

Ad Bundles

What is an Ad Bundle?
An Ad Bundle is a group of related ad space on sites that AdToll has selected based on a set of criteria. Ad Bundles allow you to quickly book ads on a range of different sites with similar characteristics.

When will Ad Bundles be available?
As you may have noticed, currently Ad Bundles are not available but is in the pipeline for a future enhancement on AdToll.

Run of Network (RON) Ads

What is a RON Ad?
A RON ad is different from a Sponsored Ad in that it allows you to advertise across our entire range of publisher sites priced in cents per valid click.

Why choose a RON Ad?
A RON ad has the advantage of allowing you to know exactly what each click will cost you with the disadvantage of not knowing where the click originated from.

AdToll recommends an advertiser use RON ads when they want to know the Cost-Per-Click (CPC), want to advertise across a large range of sites or if they are promoting a low Click Through Rate (CTR) product like poker or pharmaceuticals.

What click fraud strategies does AdToll implement for RON ads?
AdToll takes click fraud seriously and when an Advertiser is paying for each click it becomes increasingly more important. Not all clicks on a RON ad will be deemed valid and therefore charged to the advertiser. We use proactive strategies such as frequency capping and "bot" clicks to filter fraudulent clicks (and others).

On top of that, if no geo-targeting has been selected by the Advertiser then your ad will be targeted to the Tier 1 Network. That means clicks are only valid if originating from the countries in our Tier 1 Network: Australia, New Zealand, North America and High Income European Countries.

If geo-targeting has been selected by the advertiser then valid RON clicks can only originate from the region selected.

Where will my RON Ad appear?
RON Ads are displayed across the entire AdToll network based on the Ad Rating of your ad and any targeting options selected. Some of the Geo-Targeting options are quite sophisiticated so we have provided detailed information on them in the Run of Network Geo-Targeting Matrix page.

What restrictions are there on RON Ad content?
AdToll reviews all RON Ads prior to them being distributed on the network. We will not approve your ad if the site it is linking to is illegal in nature, the site the ad links to endorses "paid to click" or "paid to read" type programs or if you use all capitals in your ad content. If we feel you have also given your ad an incorrect rating we will change that accordingly.

When will my RON Ad begin being displayed?
Your RON Ad will be displayed as soon as an AdToll team member has approved the ad for publishing. This can take up to 24 hours but if your RON Ad is booked in normal business hours, quite often we will approve the ad within minutes.

How long will my RON ad run for?
Your ad will run until all of the clicks you have purchased have been used. The actual length of time to complete your campaign depends on a number of factors including (but not limited to):

  • The number of clicks purchased;
  • The Click-Through-Rate (CTR) the ad attracts;
  • The number of RON Ads being served within the AdToll network;
  • The amount of traffic and resulting ad views the sites where the RON Ad is running.

How can I buy a RON Ad?
The process of creating a RON Ad will take you a matter of minutes. Click the button below to create your RON Ad.

Ad Ratings

What are Ad Ratings?
When making an Ad Booking you must choose an Ad Rating that best describes the content of the ad and the destination. Ad Ratings are provided to prevent inappropriate content from being shown to younger users.

What Ad Ratings are available?
The following 3 Ad Ratings are available:

  • Safe
Content (including Ad) suitable for persons aged 12 years and under. Content may include low level violance and soft language.
  • Teen
Content suitable for persons aged 13 years and older. Content may contain violence, strong language and adult themes. Nudity and sexually explicit material not allowed.
  • Adult
Content ONLY suitable for persons aged 18 years and older. Content may include heavy violence, nudity and sexually explicit material.

Will the Ad Rating effect where my ads are published?
Yes. Publishers have control over the content of the ads they wish to display, which includes restricting ads to a certain Ad Rating. For example if you book an Adult rated ad then it will not appear on Publisher sites that are restricted to Teen rated ads.

Account Credit

What is my Account Credit?
Your Account Credit contains funds you can use at any time to purchase ads. The Account Credit makes it possible for you to purchase ads quickly and set up ads to renew automatically (not yet available).

How do I get Account Credit?
There are two primary methods of increasing your account credit:

  • You deposit funds into your account using the facility provided in your account area - via PayPal, E-Bullion and soon ePassporte.
  • If you are a Publisher, you can have your earnings transferred to your Account Credit.

Site Directory and Rate Cards

What is the Site Directory?
The directory is the complete list of available publisher sites that are open for advertising. The directory is initially sorted by the average number of clicks per ad per week but can easily be changed by clicking the column headings available.

What are the Star Ratings?
A few key factors that help define a sites Ad Group performance are given a Star Rating from 1 to 5. The Star Rating makes it easier for Advertisers to make decisions. The key indicators given Star Ratings are Alexa Rank, Average Clicks/Ad/Week/ and Average CPC.

How are the stars awarded?
Only a fraction of sites will be awarded 5 Star Ratings, more will have 4 stars etc... No stars are awarded if the site fails to meet the minimum requirements, for example no Alexa Rank.
